Hey there chime guys,
I'm interested in obtaining a Chime account and was wondering specifically who the third-parties mentioned in section 9 Confidentiality of the Chime Deposit Account Agreement. It states that "We (Chime) may disclose information to third parties about your spending accounts". It seems your application has some "features" which allow for the collection of various types of data including facial recognition and other biometrics, how do you maintain compliance with the federal financial data regulations which apply to all financial institutions and entities? Your privacy statement in broad strokes reveals that you use third-party analytics services and that these services can collect the information directly. Wouldn't that be illegal under federal regulations. If I were to "consent" and forfeit my rights to have this information protected overriding the laws set-forth what would these third-party analytics companies be doing with my information.
Also from a development standpoint (I know it's the development norm now-a-days to slide complete phone access into the permissions unknowingly to the people utilizing the application but I ask anyways) for what reasons would a banking application need access to camera full privileges (pictures and video), contacts, location, storage including the ability to modify and delete SD card contents and read the contents of shared storage, full network access, and view network connections. Again, what third-parties are you sharing information with under the "illegal/legal?" umbrella of your permissions, privacy, and terms and conditions. redacted ? #showerthoughts... From a surveillance economy exploitatively collecting as much as you can get away with perspective that's a brilliant idea but from an ethical non-sociopathic people are not data points to be collected path of least privilege utilizing and collecting only the data necessary for your application to complete its function that's alittle ummm.. whats the word... common ******* sense.
Again, I hope to find some clarity in your reply so that I can make a decision on a banking application. Thank for your time.
